Shipping and supply of re-cycled and virgin aggregates to the construction industry The first purpose built self-discharging vessel arrived from Glensanda in 1990 with 64,000 tonnes of Scottish granite, which discharged to the Backhouse Quayside at the rate of 4,000 tonnes per hour. This started a special relationship with Foster Yeoman and thus began the Yeoman Backhouse involvement in sales of aggregate for the North West construction industry. Since the arrival of the first shipment, Yeoman Backhouse has made a consistent and significant investment into the ‘Virtual Quarry’ at Seaforth Docks totalling over £2m. Ever mindful of the needs of its customers and the markets in general, Yeoman Backhouse has constantly been a leader in new techniques and applications to keep it at the forefront of its chosen field.
